What’s this “Modular Agency” Model All About?

The ‘modular’ agency model means you only pay for the expertise you need but gain access  to expertise you didn’t know you needed.

Traditionally, there are two kinds of agency models.  The ‘full-service’ agency model offers a 360-degree suite of services to cover any and all needs a client might have.  This model is clunky and usually creates a lot of overlap with current, in-house capabilities or prior agreements with other vendors.  The ‘Mad Men’ model just doesn’t work in the new economy.

The ’boutique’ agency model swings the pendulum all the way the other way.  This model is all about offering a single service type to clients with very specific needs.  The problem?  They tend to recommend the same service over and over again–because it’s the only service they provide.

JDM’s ‘modular’ agency model is about splitting our offering into pods (we call them micro-brands).  Each micro-brand offers a specific, boutique-y suite of services.  Clients are encouraged to use only the micro-brands that address their pain or bridge gaps in their current capabilities (so there’s no overlap).

Ok, Give Me Some Examples…

That’s a lot to digest.  Take, for example, the following scenarios and I think you’ll get the hang of it.

If you’ve already got a webmaster (or someone to look after your website) but your logo and sales collateral are throwbacks to the late 70′s, hire the design team at JDM Studios.
If you’re website rocks and your brand makes money fall from the sky, but you need a little help keeping the machine running smoothly, hire the marketing consultants at JDM Whiteboard or the web technology support team at JDM Support.
If everything is running smoothly, your brand is great and your CMO is a rock star, but you just want a new website or web technology, bring on the super-nerds at JDM Labs.

It All Starts with a Quick Conversation

Getting started with JDM is simple.  Simply drop us a line, call us, send smoke-signals–whatever and let us know which of our modular services or micro-brands look interesting.  From there, the process is simple:

  1. Contact us (smoke signals, email, phone, online–whatever)
  2. We’ll help determine the scope, if there’s a fit, the budget, and an estimated timeframe
  3. We’ll submit a proposal with some formal wording which includes optional add-on features and terms
  4. At the completion of the project, the most appropriate Brand(s) are automatically retained, but can be immediately canceled or canceled every three months thereafter
  5. Monthly payments made to our Brands can be applied to projects underway
